AAEDE began in 1977 by helping Chinese immigrants acclimate to their new environment and obtain financial security. We have since grown into a full-service 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to economic self-help for Asian Americans and others. We are a strong community organization that receives no public funds.
For more than 40 years, AAEDE has provided training and employment services to thousands of Asian Americans throughout Southern California while collaborating with government groups, nonprofit organizations, and major corporations to provide high-quality programming. We have over 800 participants and 1,000 vendors! We also are known for teaching kids to read and write and for offering scholarships to high school kids going to college.
In 2004, AAEDE drew more than 1,000 attendees in workshops and seminars covering topics from financial management and business growth to addressing legal issues associated with small business and other career ideas. AAEDE now also offers language-specific workshops in addition to its usual English-language workshops. We also hold an annual job fair, Asian Career Transitions (ACT), which is specifically designed to meet the career transition needs of Asian Americans.
